The Boston Group bags Indonesian deal

V. Rishi Kumar

Hyderabad , April 11

THE Boston Group, an e-learning technology and services provider, has bagged a $11 million order from the Indonesian Bank of Manderi, amidst stiff global competition.

The Chairman of The Boston Group, Mr Subu M. Kota, told Business Line, "This is a big win for us as the project includes solution architecting around the Intralearn Learning Management system, implementation, hosting, training, change management and setting up of help desks. This encompasses e-learning solution for 17,000 employees spread across 700 branches."

As a part of the Phase II project, 600 hours of e-learning content would be developed by the company over a three-year period.

The content includes all areas of Bank of Manderi's operations, and this is being co-developed with a local partner, Bahasa Indonesia.

"Apart from tackling the diverse and complex nature of the organisation, which is spread across scores of Indonesian islands, the challenge was to understand the business environment and address their local language issues. Therefore, we chose a local partner for content development," Mr Kota explained.

"Earlier, the company had worked on a virtual university project in Beijing, and for Citibank in Singapore. The Citibank was a routine project, but the Beijing virtual university project and the Bank of Manderi were different as we had to take up matters relating to cross cultural issues as also the local language. Both these projects, we are handling through local partners," he explained.
