Strategy Tops Foods to set up plant in US Our Bureau
New Delhi , April 13 Tops Foods, which sells products such as pickles and sauces under the Tops brand, is planning to set up a plant in the US to capture the growing popularity of Indian flavours in the country. "We are hopeful of generating business worth at least $100,000 per year in the US. Apart from supplying to Indian restaurants, we would be tying up with retail outlets in the country to sell our products. The plant, which would mainly manufacture pickles, is coming up in Los Angeles," Mr Nitin Seth from Tops Foods said. Currently, Tops is already exporting its products to the neighbouring countries. In the domestic market, Tops has recently entered the high-growth ready-to-cook segment and instant mixes. The company has five plants in Delhi and is also investing about Rs 7-8 crore towards setting up a new plant in Rajasthan. Meanwhile, though not present in the Southern part of the country, Tops is working on launching products specifically for the Southern markets to make a foray into the region soon. With its range of initiatives in place, Tops is targeting a turnover of about Rs 40 crore in the current fiscal. Apart from pickles and sauces, the company also makes products such as jellies, custards, and so on.
