Our Bureau

Pune , April 14

IF projections are met and there is a minimum demand for the supply of gas through pipelines, the customers of Pune could see themselves being supplied by piped gas by the end of the next calendar year.

Talking to presspersons, Mr R. Suresh, General Manager, GAIL (India) Ltd, said the company was in the process of completing the Dahej-Uran track and this was expected to be completed by March 2005. This pipeline is expected to be extended to Chikali, near Pune to service the Puneri customers. The Dahej-Uran pipeline would supply to Pune and Dabhol.

For this to happen, the minimum demand would be 1.3 million standard cubic metres per day, he said.

GAIL, in association with the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (MCCIA) conducted an industry meeting for getting the feedback for this project. The feedback would be collected from across the city within a couple of days
