Coal Northern Coalfields production up 4 pc Our Bureau
Kolkata , April 14 THE Singrauli-based Northern Coalfields Ltd (NCL) has recorded a growth of 4.28 per cent in production during 2003-04, according to a company press release. NCL coal production went up to 47.033 million tonnes against 45.101 million tonnes (mt) in 2002-03. The annual target fixed at the beginning of 2003-04 was 46.50 mt. The rise in the coal production also resulted in higher dispatches. "Dispatches increased to 46.236 mt during 2003-04 achieving a growth of 4.72 per cent over the dispatches of 44.153 mt of the previous year. During the year 2003-04, the company dispatched 45.160 million tonnes of coal to the power sector," the release stated. NCL's profit before tax during 2003-04 increased by Rs 295.09 crore to Rs 1588.10 crore as against Rs 1293.01 crore in 2002-03. "The company is all set to produce 47.5 mt as per target during the year 2004-05," the press release stated.
