New Delhi , April 16

Korean consumer electronics giant LG on Friday launched a range of notebook computers that come equipped with Intel's `Centrino' technology and longer battery life.

The notebook personal computers would retail at prices ranging from Rs 99,000 to Rs 1,40,000. The notebooks use LG's proprietary `battery maximising technology' that offers a battery life of up to 10 hours, LG Electronics India Limited Marketing Head, Mr Anil Arora told reporters here.

The `Centrino' chips designed by Intel Corporation enable the user to have wireless connectivity at areas called `hot-spots' where a wireless Internet environment has been created.

Mr Arora said the LCD (liquid crystal display) was 33 per cent brighter and the viewing angle wider than conventional notebooks, allowing for higher quality pictures from any angle without any reduction in brightness. The company, which has two manufacturing units for notebook PCs in China and Korea, aims to sell 7200 notebook units in the current year. Mr Arora said that LG was planning to introduce more products in the next few months and would also offer Linux as Operating System.
