Rubber prices weaken on profit booking

THE spot rubber rates weakened slightly on Monday . The profit booking from certain traders and buyer resistance at higher levels brought down the prices. All the grades lost except latex, which remained steady at Rs 44 on better demand.

At Bangkok, RSS 3 closed better at Rs 60.03 against Rs 59.50 a kg and the TOCOM May features for RSS 3 fell to 147.4 yen from 150.7 yen on Friday.

The futures market continued to rule weak on Monday. The near month May delivery was quoted at Rs 59.30 (Rs 59.12), June at Rs 61.07 (Rs 61.13), July at Rs 61.40 (Rs 61.50) and August at Rs 61.50 (Rs 61.73) per kg for RSS 4. The transactions were moderate.

The spot market rates per kg on Monday were: RSS 4 Rs 58.75 (Rs 59); RSS 5 Rs 57.50 (Rs 58); ungraded Rs 56.75 (Rs57); ISNR 20 Rs 58 (Rs 58.25); and latex 60 per cent Rs 44 (Rs 44).
