Our Bureau

New Delhi , April 19

WITH the retail environment in the country fast changing, the forthcoming Lakme India Fashion Week expects to do about 25-30 per cent more business this year. Further, the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) is expecting to see a large number of global buyers at the event that is to be held later this month, Mr Vinod Kaul, Executive Director, FDCI said.

About 57 designers will be taking part in the seven-day event and a whole lot of sponsors have been roped in.

Swiss luxury brand Christian Dior has tied up with the glamorous event as the official watch brand. As part of the association, Dior watches will present their latest Spring/Summer 2004 international collection for the first time in India through various programmes during the course of the fashion week, which begins on April 27 in New Delhi.

"The association will give Dior a platform to reach out to our couture clientele who are looking for fashionable timekeeping products," Mr Shantanu Mukherji, Brand Manager, Dior said. Other major sponsors of the fashion week include Lakme, Hyundai, Seagram, Foster's, and DHL.
