Drought distress

Final stage of paddy harvesting in Chittoor taluk in Palakkad district. A survey conducted by the Economic and Scientific Department of the Kerala University shows that paddy production has come down to 45 per cent due to drought conditions prevailing in the State. Areas like Ambalapuzha, Ottappalam, Chittoor are the most affected.
