Govt suspends airline licence of Agni Aviation

Ashwini Phadnis

New Delhi , April 19

IN the aftermath of the Cessna aircraft crash in Bangalore on Saturday, which killed film actress Soundarya and three others, the Government has suspended the non-scheduled airline licence of Agni Aviation, the company to which the ill-fated aircraft belonged.

Confirming the development, official sources told Business Line that the exact cause of the crash would only be known later. "The aircraft which crashed was not endorsed for being hired out to anybody. We have taken action against the owner. The licence has been suspended. This is not a taxi service that is being run. An aircraft cannot just be given away like this to any one," senior Government officials said. The move is not likely to affect other aviation-related activity of the company. Apart from running a flying club, Agni Aviation assembles short take-off and landing micro-light aircraft.
