Kochi yard gets Saudi order

KOCHI: The keel of the second tug for the Port of Jeddah was laid at the Cochin Shipyard on Tuesday. The contract for construction of nine tugs for the Jeddah Port in Saudi Arabia, which was secured against very stiff international competition, was signed on June 7 and the order was placed by A.A. Turki Corporation, Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, CSL has been successful in securing more orders of 30,000 DWT bulk carriers for Clipper of Denmark. The original contract, signed on January 22, was for four ships with an option for four more. This has since been increased to six ships with an option for two more. The revised contract was signed on April 14, a release said.
