Storage EMC to focus on mid-range products Our Bureau
New Delhi , April 20 EMC Corporation will focus on mid-range products in the Indian market to address the fast growing segment for storage solutions. "The Asia-Pacific market, led by China and India, is growing at a rapid 100 per cent. We expect the demand for our Clarion range of storage solutions, our product for the mid-range segment, to grow in three figure percentage terms," according to Mr Joel Schwartz, Senior Vice-President and General Manager of EMC's Mid-range Systems Division. Mr Schwartz said that globally, the mid-range segment was growing the fastest for the company as it delivers higher performance at lower cost and can add affordable replication models or upgrades. "The product that sold at about $30,000 four months ago is now available for just $10,000. We see better performance at lower price points being offered as the range evolves," he said. EMC is expanding through its partner network in India. The partner channel accounts for nearly 70 per cent of the company's total sales in the country, Mr Schwartz said. "We are a comparably smaller company in India. So it makes better sense to go through partners," he said. Mr Schwartz said that customers globally have realised the importance of data management through efficient storage systems that have the capability to inter-operate on different servers and optimise the available space. The trend is reflected in the rapid growth companies like EMC that supply data storage hardware and software tools.
