Coimbatore debt tribunal calls special sitting on April 24

TO expedite the pending recovery cases filed by several banks, the Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT), Coimbatore, has convened a special sitting on April 24.

About 77 cases pertaining to four banks, namely State Bank of India, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank and State Bank of Travancore, are likely to be heard at this special sitting, convened by the Presiding Officer-in-charge, Mr A. Vijay Kumar, at the Conference Hall of the Coimbatore Stock Exchange.

The DRT's jurisdiction covers ten districts — Coimbatore, Dharmapuri, Erode, Salem, Tiruchi, Nilgiris, Dindigul, Madurai, Pudukottai and Theni. This is the first time that a special sitting is being conducted, since the establishment of the tribunal here in March 2002.
