Rubber rates flat on buyer resistance

SPOT rubber prices remained unchanged on Wednesday. Buyer resistance at higher levels once again succeeded in halting the uptrend but failed to induce any weakness in the market.

The producing sector kept on the sidelines expecting much better rates in the days ahead. Transactions were in a low key.

Sheet rubber RSS 4 closed static at Rs 59 a kg. In Bangkok, RSS 3 improved to Rs 60.31 from Rs 60.14 but the TOCOM May features for the same grade fell sharply to 143.8 yen from 148.6 yen as on Tuesday.

The futures market stayed weak on Wednesday. The near month May delivery was quoted at Rs 59.50 (Rs 59.55), June at Rs 61.20 (Rs 61.40), July at Rs 61.45 (Rs 61.69 ) and August at Rs 61.35 (61.70) per kg for RSS 4.The volumes were low.

The Wednesday spot market rates per kg were as follows: RSS 4 Rs 58.75 (Rs 58.75), RSS 5 Rs 58 (Rs 57.50), ungraded Rs 57 (Rs 56.75), ISNR 20 Rs 57 (Rs 58) and latex 60% Rs 44 (Rs 44).
