Personal Products 23 pc increase in P&G net in Q3 Our Bureau
Mumbai , April 22 STRONG focus on core businesses and improved operational efficiencies have helped Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Health Care Ltd report a 23 per cent increase in profit after tax at Rs 18.12 crore for the third quarter ended March 2004. Sales increased by 41 per cent to Rs 137.27 crore (Rs 97.70 crore). Core businesses of health care and feminine hygiene grew by 11 per cent to Rs 74.88 crore during the quarter from Rs 67.62 crore in the year-ago period. The increase in sales was attributed to higher sales of contract manufactured detergents. Vicks Action 500 has notched up a market share of 50 per cent this year, the news release said. ``Today, the value market share of existing Vicks products in the cough and cold category stands at a record 37.4 per cent, a growth of 6.3 per cent as compared to year-ago period,'' the release said. For the nine-month period, profit after tax stood at Rs 79.50 crore as compared to Rs 69.57 crore in the year-ago period. Sales increased by 25 per cent to Rs 433.65 crore. Other income during the nine-month period dropped to Rs 9.03 crore (Rs 10.51 crore).
