Low arrivals lift rubber prices

THE rubber market improved on Thursday. Buying from the covering groups and purchase agents boosted the market sentiments, while arrivals were on a low key.

Certain tyre companies were reported to be buying sheet rubber at current rates.

The TOCOM May features for RSS 3 improved to 144.4 yen from 143.8 yen. Rubber futures showed an almost steady trend on Thursday. The near month May delivery was quoted at Rs 59.49 (Rs 59.48), June delivery at Rs 61.09 (Rs 61.02), July delivery at Rs 61.13 (Rs 61.22) and August delivery at Rs 61.30 (Rs 61.22) per kg for RSS 4.The volumes were moderate.

The Thursday spot market rates per kg were as follows: RSS 4 Rs 59.50 (Rs 59); RSS 5 Rs 58.50 (Rs 58); Ungraded Rs 57.50 (Rs 57); ISNR 20 Rs 57 (Rs 57) and Latex 60% Rs 44 (Rs 44).
