Off-shore Development 3Com plans design centre in Hyderabad Our Bureau
Hyderabad , April 23 3COM, provider of voice and data networking products, services and solutions, has announced plans to locate its first India design centre in Hyderabad. The project is expected to be taken up on the BOT (build, own and transfer) model in league with Mars. Mr Vijay Yadav, Country Manager and Head for the SAARC region of 3Com, told Business Line that the centre will focus on high-end research and design products in the areas of wireless applications, networking and VoIP products. To be commissioned by May, the centre is expected to support the company's US-based research and development work and initiatives and to accelerate the delivery of 3Com's VoIP networking solutions. Tasked with supporting ongoing VoIP programs at 3Com's facilities in the US, the centre will be overseen by 3Com engineering managers based in India and will focus on VoIP software features and applications development, Mr Yadav said. "This development is significant for us since the 3Com's US-based engineering teams lead VoIP architecture evolution and platform direction. The centre is expected to house about 85 engineers and design experts." The total investment planned would be significant, he added.
