Orchid Chemicals net up 59%

ORCHID Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals has announced a profit after tax of Rs 31.03 crore in 2003-04, up 59 per cent over the profit registered in the previous year.

For the same period, the company's turnover was Rs 713.41 crore, higher by 32 per cent in relation to the preceding year. The company's board of directors has announced a dividend of 40 per cent (face value of Rs 10).

The earnings per share for 2003-04 were Rs 9.58 (Rs 6.61).

The company's press release showed that the turnover in the last quarter of 2003-04 (January-March) was Rs 207.75 crore, higher by 6.56 per cent in relation to the preceding year. The company's profit after tax in the last quarter was Rs 7.81 crore, a fall of 22.05 per cent compared to the same in the corresponding period of the previous year.
