CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB) has opened call centres at each of its unit offices to provide information to the public on the availability of plots, flats and houses for sale. The centres will also provide information on new schemes in progress and the status of balance dues. The call centres in Chennai have started functioning on a trial basis. The phone numbers of the Chennai city offices are Anna Nagar division 26154502, Dr JJ Nagar division 265676699, KK Nagar division 23713177 and Besant Nagar division 24467830. The call centres will function on all working days from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The call centre facility in other offices of TNHB in the rural areas will start functioning soon. According to a press release, the TNHB has about 1.5 lakh allotees in its books in the 16 divisions and unit offices. Due to manual accounting problems allotees find it difficult to settle their accounts and also in knowing the outstanding account due from them. A steering committee consisting of experts from National Informatics Centre, Anna University and ELCOT was formed to study and give recommendations periodically.
