Mangalore Chem Q4 net up 38 pc

THE fourth quarter net profit of Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilisers Ltd has gone up by 38 per cent at Rs 9.08 crore on a turnover of Rs 151.47 crore, up 8.60 per cent over the previous year. A press release by the Company Secretary, Mr S. Kannan, said here on Tuesday that the turnover for the year at Rs 614.57 crore was up 9.22 per cent while net profit at Rs 22.32 crore was up 7.40 per cent.

The release said that a 4,50,000-tonne-per-annum metallurgical coke plant with co-generation of 28 MW is being put up in phase 1 on 55 acres of land in Mangalore. The company has set October 2005 as the target for commissioning the plant.

The material handling and storage facilities are being put up to handle the eventual doubling of the metallurgical coke capacity in phase 2.

The project is estimated to cost around Rs 360 crore, the release added.
