Our Bureau

CHENNAI: Intel Technology India Pvt Ltd is talking to various Indian broadband service providers (BSPs) to jointly work in enhancing personal computer penetration in the country.

For instance, BSPs can bundle personal computers having Intel processors and chips while providing a broadband connection, said an Intel official.

BSPs can also use Intel to test broadband projects in the country, Mr G.B. Kumar, Director (Sales), South Asia, Intel Technology India, told newspersons here on Wednesday. "We are talking to all BSPs," he said. About 60,000 km of cables would be in place across the country by the year-end and 2004 is going to be year of broadband. It is only the last mile connection - between the service provider and the customer - that needs to be figured it out, he said.
