Personal Products Godrej Consumer PAT up 21 pc Our Bureau
MUMBAI: Strong growth in brand sales and improvement in operating efficiencies have helped Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL) to report a 21 per cent increase in profit after tax at Rs 65 crore for the year ended March 2004. The board has recommended fourth interim dividend of Rs 3 per share taking the total dividend to Rs 9 per share. Sales revenues, net of excise, improved by four per cent to Rs 490 crore. Godrej brand sales moved up by seven per cent year-on-year and 12 per cent during the fourth quarter. "During the year, GCPL's performance in the toilet soaps category was superior to that of the sector. The Himachal Pradesh manufacturing unit has enabled us to expand capacities and further drive growth,'' the company said in a news release quoting Mr Adi Godrej, Chairman & Managing Director. The corrective measures taken in the personal care segment along with new products helped growth. The company said its `highly developed' oil procurement expertise helped it to neutralise the impact of the increase in vegetable oil prices.
