Mumbai , April 28 DAIMLERCHRYSLER India is taking its biofuel project further and is in talks with some oil giants. According to Mr Hans Michael Huber, CEO and Managing Director, DaimlerChrysler, the fuel has to be economically tested as prices issues are involved. While the fuel provides the same mileage as fossil fuel, pricing it at the same level would be the critical issue. "Our initial findings indicate that the use of biodiesel in automobiles reduces particulate emission to about one-third that of normal diesel," he said. At the same time, the power ratio, drive and comfort factors remain unaffected. DaimlerChrysler has set up two small plantations on eroded land in two different climatic regions, in the sub-humid area of Orissa and the semi-arid area of Gujarat. The Jatropha curcas oil seed tree plantations are expected to recover eroded soils and render them usable for agricultural purposes again as well as to produce bio-oil that can be used for biodiesel production.
