Bata India Q1 loss up at Rs 14.6 cr

BATA India Ltd has recorded a higher net loss of Rs 14.6 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2004, up from Rs 6.57 crore during the corresponding previous period.

Sales turnover, however, was higher at Rs 162.86 crore (Rs 153.35 crore). Total income climbed to Rs 164.48 crore (Rs 154 crore), but total expenditure also rose to Rs 174.3 crore (Rs 154.9 crore).

For the year ended December 31, 2003 the company recorded a net loss of Rs 26 crore on a total income of Rs 716.7 crore.
