Rubber prices dip on sales

Our Correspondent

Kottayam , April 29

THE physical rubber market declined on Thursday. After a day's moderate buying, the covering groups disappeared to the sidelines. The selling from traders anticipating further fall put pressure on the prices and all the grades except latex lost in the absence of buyers. Meanwhile, certain tyre companies were reported to be buying sheet rubber up to Rs 58.25 a kg.

Sheet rubber RSS 4 fell to Rs 58 a kg from Rs 58.50 on Wednesday. At Bangkok, RSS 3 closed at Rs 60.91 against Rs 60.68 a kg.

The futures market followed the downtrend on Thursday. The near month May delivery was quoted at Rs 57.70 (Rs 58.30), June delivery at Rs 58.97 (Rs 59.26), July delivery at Rs 58.76 (Rs 59.19 ), and August delivery at Rs 58.31 (Rs 58.81) per kg for RSS 4. The market opened weak and declined further on selling pressure.

The spot market rates per kg on Thursday were as follows: RSS 4 Rs 58 (Rs 58.50); RSS 5 Rs 57 (Rs 57.50); ungraded Rs 56 (Rs 56.50); ISNR 20 Rs 56.50 (Rs 57); latex 60% Rs 43.50 (Rs 43.50)
