Hyderabad , April 29

BARTRONICS India, a barcoding, smartcard and identity software company, has announced its partnership with Escort Memory Systems, part of the Datalogic Group, to cater to the growing need for RFID (radio frequency identification) solutions required to meet the norms to trade in the US and some other countries.

The Managing Director of Bartronics India, Mr Sudhir Rao, said the RFID applications were set to grow given the fact that Indian exporters would have to meet the norms set by the US Federal authorities wherein products will have to come with RFID tag from January 2005.

The Indian market is estimated to be about Rs 100 crore now and is growing at about 30 per cent per annum.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Rao said Indian firms looking to supply their merchandise to say Wal-Mart need to be RFID-compliant by 2005.
