MRF Q2 net down at Rs 13.19 cr

CHENNAI: MRF Ltd has reported a net profit of Rs 13.19 crore for the second quarter ended March 31, 2004 , compared to Rs 17.45 crore in the corresponding quarter of last year.

In fact, the company had made a net profit of Rs 68.25 crore in the same quarter last year, but that was inclusive of a refund of an excise duty paid earlier.

Turnover in the quarter under review was Rs 619.27 crore, net of excise duty, against Rs 518.94 crore previously.

In the fix months ended March 31, 2004, MRF achieved a turnover of Rs 1,247.57 crore (Rs 1,037.5 crore) and made a net profit of Rs 29.81 crore (Rs 37.63 crore, excluding exceptional income and Rs 88.43 crore including that).

Earnings per share for the six-month period stood at Rs 70.29 compared to Rs 208.51.
