Shriram Propcare offers consultancy, transaction services

Anjali Prayag

Bangalore , April 30

WALK the BPO way and you can never go wrong is the country's mantra for success. Following the transport, security, catering, education and recruitment industry's path, is the country's realty industry.

And in an innovative move, Shriram Propcare, a company operating in the area of employee accommodation management, has launched various products to service the varying needs of the industry.

"Corporate residential outsourcing is an area that has not been focused upon by the real estate industry," says its COO, Mr R. Balaji.

A study revealed that in Bangalore, more than 70 per cent of the BPO and the IT employees had relocated from other cities. "It was obvious that the companies and the employees needed assistance in the relocation area and there was a huge potential."

Shriram Propcare, an associate of the Rs 4,500-crore Chennai-based Shriram Group, currently provides two kinds of services to its clients: consultancy and transaction.

In most of the cases, Shriram Propcare works with the clients right from the manpower planning stage itself to analyse the impact of the recruitment on their accommodation budgets and recommend strategies to suit the budgets. The company also launched its lease management services this month, where it manages all aspects of residential leases of the client's top executives.

At the next level, which is optional, clients can sign up transaction deals with the company, in which case the latter will find short-term, long-term, group and PG accommodation for the clients' employees from its database. According to Mr Balaji, so far, the company has placed more than 2,000 employees in various residential accommodation units.

The reason why Shriram Propcare insists on working with the HR department is because companies are always looking at ways of reducing their costs. "As transportation costs are very high in a BPO, we find ways of reducing it by accommodating employees close to one another or close to the office location," he explains, adding, "For short-term accommodation assistance, the companies realise at least a 40 per cent savings in their costs." Shriram Propcare has so far signed up 15 clients including Digital Global Soft Ltd, Iseva System, Hewlett Packard, IBM, 24x7 Customer, MsourcE, Sykes, etc. Currently operating in Bangalore, the company will be in Pune and in Chennai in the next three months.
