Sony India aims to achieve Rs 1,100-cr turnover

SONY India Pvt Ltd is planning to achieve a turnover of Rs 1,100 crore in the current financial year, according to Mr Muneesh Dhawan, Regional Manager, South.

He was here to inaugurate the 54th outlet of "Sony Exclusive" in the country.

The company achieved a turnover of Rs 850 crore in the last financial year. Mr Dhawan said that it is targeting at 10 per cent market share during the current fiscal.

The company, which recorded over 20 per cent growth in sales in the last financial year compared to the previous year, is confident of more rapid market growth, he said.

Mr Dhawan said: "The success of Sony Exclusive outlets, especially in non-metro areas, has given us encouragement to continue strengthening of this chain of outlets."

Sony India has a distribution network of nearly 2,000 dealers and distributors in major locations in the country. Apart from this, it has 54 "Sony Exclusive" outlets and 39 "Sony World" outlets.

Asked about the expansion plans of the company in the State, he said that it is targeting at urban markets such as Hubli, Belgaum and Mysore. It is also planning to explore semi-urban markets such as Gulbarga, Raichur and Bijapur.
