NECC buys maize for poultry farmers

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , May 3

THE National Egg Co-Ordination Committee (NECC) has procured maize for allotment to poultry farmers at Rs 50 per quintal less than the current market price.

In a press release here, NECC stated that in spite of an increase in production, the maize prices were high currently as traders were holding on to stocks.

Maize prices are ruling high also since export enquiries are on the rise. After a long time, the country has begun export maize, mainly to Far-East and South-East Asian countries.

The trade anticipates maize exports to touch 10 lakh tonnes. Already, about three lakh tonnes have been shipped out of the country.
