Thiruvananthapuram , May 4

PROJECT Management Institute (PMI), the world's largest body of project management professionals, is opening its Kerala chapter here on Wednesday.

The chapter is being sponsored by US Software and has membership of other organisations such as Ushus Technologies, NeST, Alliance Cornhill, Stabilix, IBS and Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre.

According to Mr Jayarajan Nanoo of US Software, the objective of the PMI local chapter is to spread professionalism in project management by providing opportunities for the professionals to acquire the right skills.

The chapter will also act as a forum for project managers in the State for exchange of knowledge and lessons learned.

PMI has a membership base of 1.25 lakh spread over 140 countries. The not-for-profit organisation is dedicated to building professionalism in project management.

The Project Management Professional (PMP) certification conducted by PMI was considered to be the best recognition for project management practices the world over, Mr Nanoo said. The local chapter would provide opportunities for the professionals in the region to acquire PMP certification from PMI, he added.
