Mangalore , May 4

SAHASRAKSHA Vaidyashala at Ukkinadka in Kasaragod district of Kerala will introduce six herbal products to the market on May 6.

Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, the Managing Director of vaidyashala, Dr Jayagovinda Ukkinadka, said that these products have stevia as the main ingredient. The products will be introduced in Karnataka and Kerala markets in the initial phase. The vaidyashala is planning to market 10,000 bottles of 20 ml each in this phase.

Dr Ukkinadka said that the products to be launched include "Stevia Drink," "Stevia Mouthwash," "Ukkinadka Peya," "Sneeze Nil Kit," "Cough Off" and "Infant Kit." Of them, the first three will be available in medical stores and doctor's prescription is not required for them. However, prescription is essential for the other three products.

He said that "Stevia Drink" could be used as a sweetener by diabetic patients. "Ukkinadka Peya" could be used as an herbal drink instead of tea and coffee.

Dr Jayagovinda claimed that vaidyashala obtained patents for these products six months ago. Stating that the vaidyashala has tested these products on nearly 300 patients, he said that he is satisfied with the results.

Though major portion of stevia needed for these products is grown at Ukkinadka farm, the rest is procured from the market, he said.

The vaidyashala will introduce other traditional Ayurvedic products to the market in three months.

The seer of Sri Ramachandrapura Math, Hosanagar, Shimoga district, Sri Raghaveshwara Bharati, will launch these products at Ukkinadka, he added.
