New Projects Marketing - Retailing Pioneer Hakoba centre nearing completion; to open Dubai office Anna Peter
Mumbai , May 4 PIONEER Embroideries, better-known for taking over the Hakoba brand and its operations in Mumbai, has almost completed its Hakoba Trade Centre at Borivali, Mumbai. The centre, to be ready later this month, will have 14 stalls of about 250 sq ft each for which major retailers, including a branded footwear company, have already booked space. According to Mr D.R. Mehta, Director, Pioneer Embroideries, this is in line with its retail plans and the centre will showcase readymade garments and Hakoba and Pioneer products. Pioneer Embroideries plans to open 100 retail outlets to promote its products and laces. It has already set up seven wholly-owned outlets. Fifty will be franchisees and the rest would be exclusive outlets to be funded by a combination of internal accruals or funds from financial institutions. It is also opening a liaison office in Dubai to increase buyer-seller interactions. The company is planning to set up exclusive stores in Dubai, Nigeria, Singapore and Hong Kong. Exports, Mr Mehta said, now accounted for 13 per cent of the turnover and the company was keen to raise this to 20 per cent. Post the expansion of its retail network, the company will enter the readymades segment with the Hakoba brand. Part of the retail activity will offer designer profiling services and tailoring. The company had decided that improving quality was essential and it was planning to buy more machines. The company is expanding operations, having taken over the Pune-based Grand Apparel a year ago.
