New Delhi , May 4

RELIANCE Infocomm plans to host the results of board and competitive exams and on its mobile phone portal, R-World.

The service is expected to benefit students across the country who have appeared for the CBSE or ICSE board exams or various competitive tests like AIIMS, CET or CMT. The company has also tied up with nearly 50 State-level boards to post their results.

"The service will be free of charge as R-World is a free service till June. The pricing framework for the facility, when it becomes a paid service, is yet to be worked out," said Mr Mahesh Prasad, President (Applications and Solutions Group).

The service was launched last year with CBSE, ICSE and Uttar Pradesh Board results. To access the results, users had to access R-World through Reliance mobile phones and feed the roll number to view the result.

The detailed result can be forwarded to other users and more than one result can be obtained in one go by feeding multiple roll numbers.

Mr Prasad said that R-World was set to introduce an application by which users can book rail and air tickets using their mobile phones.

"We are in an advanced stage of trials with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) and are also working with several airlines to launch the ticket booking service. The service should be up and running very soon."

Reliance Infocomm is following up on the launch of a classified matrimonial service with other services like auto, real estate and job ads. There will be a suite of applications on family and women too, Mr Prasad said.

The company is also eyeing the broadband segment aggressively. "We will be rolling out broadband service for enterprise customers soon and for retail customers, the NetWay service is expected to be started by the year-end."

The company plans to offer `Triple Play' - providing voice, video and data on the same platform.
