CMA-CGM floats venture with Clarion Shipping

The company will act as the agent of CMA-CGM and ANL Container Line at several eastern ports.

Kolkata , May 5

CMA-CGM, the French container operator and one of the top five in the world, has joined hands with Clarion Shipping Agency of the Transworld Group and floated a joint venture company, CMA-CGM (East & South) India Pvt Ltd.

The joint venture company, in which the French shipping giant will hold 60 per cent stake and the Indian partner the balance 40 per cent, will act as the general agent of CMA-CGM as well as ANL Container Line at several east coast ports such as Kolkata, Visakhapatnam, Chennai and Tuticorin and on the west coast at Kochi. It will also operate through dry ports located at Bangalore, Hyderabad and Coimbatore, according to informed sources. CMA-CGM (E&S) India Pvt Ltd, which started functioning from May1, has taken over all the shipping agency and customer services functions from Clarion Shipping Agency, which so far acted as the shipping agent of CMA-CGM and ANL Container Line.
