The Hindu Business Line : Directive to Kochi Corpn

KOCHI: The Ombudsman for Local Bodies, Mr K.P. Radhakrishna Menon, has directed the Kochi Corporation to clean the city canals and drains before the onset of the monsoon. The order came in the wake of the flooding of city roads in the unexpected rains lashed city since Sunday.

The Ombudsman expressed displeasure over the attitude of the corporation in not taking seriously its directives on various occasions. Mr Menon asked the corporation secretary to serve copies of the order to all the council members including the Mayor. He pointed out that the non- implementation of its earlier order regarding cleaning of canals and drains has resulted in the floods in the city.
