Intersil to set up design centre in Bangalore

Bangalore , May 5

INTERSIL Corporation, manufacturer of analog semiconductors, is setting up a product design centre in Bangalore. The company plans to invest a couple of million dollars over the next few years, said Mr Michael Althar, Vice-President, Standard Analog Products at Intersil.

The India centre will design and develop data converters and associated analog products. The India team will work with Intersil's marketing teams and key customers to define, develop and introduce analog products, he added.

Intersil will start its Bangalore operations with an initial team of eight engineers and ramp it up to about 15 by end-2004.

The engineers will initially focus on the design of high-speed data converters and they will undertake development and integration activities for associated high performance analog products, Mr Althar said.

"The access to high quality analog design talent with targeted expertise as well as proximity to our Asian customer base are key reasons for establishing a centre in Bangalore," Mr Althar said.

The company's products address semiconductor industry markets such as flat panel displays, optical storage and power management.
