AP folk festival begins

HYDERABAD: Offering the summer crowds a rich menu of folk dances, the Andhra Pradesh Government has launched a month-long folk festival beginning May 1.

Being organised by the Department of Culture at Ravindra Bharati, the Andhra Pradesh Folk Festival also aims to showcase the folk art forms from across the State to the urban population, Mr Arja Srikanth, Director of Department of Culture, said here in a press release.

Oggudolu (performed by Mr Chukka Sathaiah, Warangal), Dappu (Mr Surya Bhagavantha Rao, Ranga Reddy district), Pittaladora (Mr Srinivas, Anaparthi) and Harikatha (Mr Ch Bhaskar, Tenali) are some of the folk forms slated for the festival.
