Rubber Rubber price firm as rains limit raw material arrivals Our Correspondent
Kottayam , May 6 rubberTHE physical rubber market remained firm on Thursday. The scarcity of the raw material due to intensified rains round-the-clock seemed to be the controlling factor of the price movements. The covering groups absorbed the sparse arrivals as on the previous days of the week. While all other grades gained, ISNR 20 and latex were flat on less trading interests. RSS 4, the sheet rubber improved to Rs 58.25 a kg against Rs 58 on Wednesday. At Bangkok, RSS 3 closed better at Rs 61.33 a kg against Rs 61.02 on Monday. The TOCOM June futures for RSS 3 closed at 145.2 yen against 145.5 yen on Friday last. The futures market turned weak on Thursday. The May delivery was quoted at Rs 57.60 (Rs 57.87), June delivery at Rs 58.80 (Rs 59.12), July delivery at Rs 58.75 (Rs 59.08 ) and August delivery at Rs 58 (Rs 58.31) per kg for RSS 4. The spot market rates per kg on Thursday were as follows: RSS 4 Rs 58.25 (Rs 58.00); RSS 5 Rs 57 (Rs 56.75); ungraded Rs 56.25 (Rs 56); ISNR 20 Rs 56.50 (Rs 56.50); and Latex 60% Rs 43.50 (Rs 43.50).
