THE National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA) will soon prepare a geographical information system for urban areas in Kochi, which is expected to boost developmental activities.
Kochi has been included in the list of cities identified for preparing the National Urban Information System.
This is being done by NRSA along with the Town and Country Planning Organisation under the Union Government. Work in this direction is progressing at the NRSA centre in Hyderabad.
Officials at GCDA said that the authority has provided the structure plan prepared in 2001 and terrestrial details such as individual survey would be incorporated later.
The aerial view of the 275 sq km areas that feature in the structure plan has been photographed and the details of the rest of the territory would be collected through satellite.
The GCDA officials have visited the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority to learn more about the mega city project being implemented there.
