LG Electronics to make laptops at Noida plant

LG Electronics India Private Limited is planning to manufacture notebook personal computers (laptops) in India. The company will import components from Korea and assemble notebook PCs at its Noida plant, near Delhi, where LG manufactures computer monitors and desktop computers, said a company official.

Recently, LG Electronics forayed into notebook PC market in India by launching its Centrino-based wireless notebook PCs (Centrino is Intel-tested wireless chips). Mr R. Manikandan, Deputy General Manager, Sales and Marketing (IT Products) LG Electronics India, said. "We are evaluating the commercial plans to manufacture notebooks in India, and we want to start the process as soon as possible," he told newspersons here recently.
