Electoral reforms

This is with reference to the article "None-of-the-above: Encouraging choice or apathy?" (Business Line, May 10). Every electoral process for the voter begins with the vote and only after that the choice of the candidate.

It makes sense if the CEC has mooted for a "none-of-the-above" choice, because this option will increase voter turnout, and avoid bogus voting.

Besides, every citizen of India is only expected to exercise his\her voting right, and has no obligation to choose one among the candidates standing in the constituency. This calls for a "none-of-the-above" option.
