Performance Ashok Leyland sales double in April Our Bureau
Chennai , May 10 ASHOK Leyland's sales have doubled in April this year compared to April 2003. Its sales of medium duty vehicles (MDV) in the domestic market have doubled and exports increased significantly. Sales of light commercial vehicles (LCVs) have also registered growth. According to monthly production and sales figures provided by the company, total vehicle sales in April were 3,325 (1,626). In March 2004 the company sold 6,200 vehicles. Total MDV sales including passenger and goods segments were 2,925 (1,541). It sold 5,508 MDVs in March. In the goods carrier segment, its production in April was 3,266 with domestic sales accounting for 2,393 and exports 197. In April 2003 it produced 1541, sold 1,166 in the domestic market and exported eight. Passenger MDV production in April 2004 was 907, domestic sales 532 and exports 184 against last April's production of 498, with 375 sold in the domestic market and 53 exported. Ashok Leyland produced 38 LCVs in April, sold 15 in the domestic market and exported four. In April 2003 it produced 24, sold five in the domestic market and exported 19.
