`Clean Thevara-Peranur canal'

KOCHI: The GCDA-LIG Residents Welfare Association has demanded the authorities to take urgent steps to clean the Thevara-Perandur canal and to widen the canal by removing the encroachers.

The association has made the demand following the flooding of over 200 homes at Judges Avenue, Kaloor and Indira Nagar LIG colony following heavy showers on May 2 and 5. Property worth thousands of rupees were destroyed and several residents including women and children had to hospitalised after polluted water flooded their homes, a release said.
