Data Access to exit dial-up services

Gaurav Raghuvanshi

New Delhi , May 11

INTERNET service provider Data Access India Ltd has informed the subscribers of `Now' ISP that the company will stop offering its dial-up Internet access services from May 22.

"We had announced a couple of months ago that we will gradually exit the retail business as the company realigns itself to its ILD (International Long Distance) operations. Accordingly, we are stopping the dial-up service to `Now' subscribers from May 22," a company spokesperson told Business Line.

The company will, however, continue to provide the services to clients who have made advance payments till November 22. The other subscribers have been asked to clear their dues accruing till May 22.

"We thank you for your association with Now ISP as a valued subscriber of our dial-up Internet access services. However, due to reasons of business realignment, we regret to inform you that we would not be able to offer our Dial-up Internet Access services to you beyond May 22, 2004," the company said in a mail to its subscribers.

The company will exit all retail operations and will concentrate on the ILD operations. At a later date, the company might consider entering data, IPLC (International Private Leased Circuits) and bandwidth services, the spokesperson said.
