Talks are on with Bharti, confirms Spectramind

Bangalore , May 11

WIPRO Spectramind has confirmed that it is in talks with Bharti Tele Ventures for offering call centre services to the latter.

Speaking to Business Line, its Chairman and Managing Director, Mr Raman Roy, said, "We are in discussions right now for providing our BPO and call centre operations to Bharti's customers. We both hope to bring the deal to closure very soon."

He, however, declined to identify the size of the deal.

Sources indicate that the immediate people engagement of the Bharti Tele-Wipro Spectramind deal could involve 300 call centre associates. While Bharti Tele's subscribers are managed either in-house or through third party service providers right now, the scope of the current outsourcing contract has not been announced yet.

"Wipro Spectramind is a market leader and will compete on its own. We see no need for any tie-ups with other third party service providers,'' said Mr Roy denying suggestions that Wipro Spectramind would bid for the contract jointly with IBM. "The call centre outsourcing is an independent decision by Bharti Tele that has nothing to do with its previous engagements,'' he said.
