AB Electrolux to source Rs 135-cr worth projects from India

New Delhi , May 11

SWEDISH household appliances major AB Electrolux, which had set up its sourcing division in India eight months back, has identified projects worth Rs 135 crore where it will use its sourcing expertise. The company has awarded orders of components worth Rs 58.5 crore to Indian vendors.

The vendors include NRB Bearings, Abilities Pistons, Sunbeam, Goetze, Oswal Electricals, Jhalani Impex, Bajaj Motors, Highway Industries and Kalyani Forge Ltd.

According to the company, more Indian vendors are under active consideration by the company. Electrolux factories in Sweden, Italy, the USS and Australia will be sourcing components from India.

Electrolux has identified India as the sourcing base for its outdoor division that makes garden and forestry equipment such as chain saws, riders, lawn movers and lawn tractors.

Mr Nick Sowden, Vice-President, Purchasing-Asia Pacific, AB Electrolux, who was in India recently, said: "We are impressed by the quality and performance standards of Indian vendors. They today qualify as our partners in the company's global growth strategy."
