Strategy Made in India DVD players Richa Mishra
New Delhi , May 12 NOT contented with a major chunk of the Indian consumer electronics market, LGEIL is now set to roll out DVD players manufactured in India. At an investment of Rs 3 crore, the company is sourcing DVD players from a vendor in India, Mr K.R.Kim, Managing Director, LGEIL said. Talking to Business Line on the company's seventh anniversary in India, Mr Kim said, ``Within two months, we would be rolling out these DVDs.'' Though he did not disclose the name of the vendor, Mr Kim said that it was a Korean company, Kortek, with a business base in India. LG forayed into the audio segment in 2001 and till now, it has been importing the products. The company is targeting a sale of 1.5 lakh units of DVD players. In the DVD-audio segment, the company also offers wireless home theatre systems. The company will soon unveil 10 new models in the category. It targets a sale of 60,000 units during the current year, in this segment.
