Politics Young brigade leads charge Our Bureau
New Delhi , May 13 GENERATIONEXT has rocked the vote. Most of the new generation politicians have crossed the Rubicon and won a coveted seat to the Lok Sabha. Leading the exclusive club has been the son of the First Family of the Congress, Mr Rahul Gandhi, who makes his political debut having been returned from Amethi. The Class of 2004 includes the former Minister Rajesh Pilot's son, Mr Sachin Pilot, an MBA who has won from Dausa in Rajasthan, Delhi CM Shiela Dikshit's son, Mr Sandeep Dikshit from East Delhi and Mr Murli Deora's son, Mr Milind Deora from South Mumbai. Other winners include Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje's son, Mr Dushyant Singh, former Finance Minister Jaswant Singh's son Mr Manvendra Singh and former Commerce Minister Murasoli Maran's son, Mr Dayanidhi Maran. Giving them company will be some young veterans like Mr Akhilesh Yadav, son of UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, and Madhav Rao Scindia's son, Mr Jyotiraditya Scindia, who are set to begin their second successive term. Missing from the party will be former Prime Minister I.K. Gujral's son, Mr N. Gujral, former Kerala Chief Minister Karunakaran's daughter, Ms Padmaja Venugopal, and the two children of Haryana CM O.P Chautala.
