Seeds Vanilla, nutmeg seedlings Our Bureau
KOCHI: Spices Board is making available seedlings of vanilla and nutmeg at subsidised prices to growers during the ensuing planting season. The Board proposes to distribute both rooted and tissue culture vanilla plantlets and budded nutmeg seedlings through its various offices in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, a press release here said. Vanilla seedlings will be given at subsidised rates to growers who hold not more than four hectares of land. The issue price is Rs 8 for rooted cutting and Rs 4.50 for tissue cultured secondary hardened plants. Growers are expected to apply to the Board on prescribed application forms for the seedlings and depending on the availability either rooted or tissue cultured plantlets will be distributed from the source nearest to the applicant.
