Industry Associations Maditssia call for new policy Our Correspondent
MADURAI: The Madurai District Tiny And Small Scale Industries Association (Maditssia), in the aftermath of the elections, has called for an earnest attention to the problems of the small scale industries (SSI). While lauding the re-election of Mr P. Mohan as the Member of Parliament, the association urged that a separate policy approach for the SSI sector should be evolved and legislated upon during the forthcoming Parliament session. In a statement issued, Maditssia also said that discussion on contract labour should be pursued. The definition of non-performing assets introduced by the Reserve Bank of India should be altered for the SSI sector. The association also said that banks must stop engaging private agencies for collection of dues. `It pointed out that steps must be taken to bring down the prices of iron and steel products, which have risen in recent times. These products must be directly supplied to the SSI sector by the mills, the association said. Our Correspondent
